Frequently Asked Questions
Acoustic pianos need to be tuned at least once a year, but more frequently in some cases. New pianos, particularly during their first year, may require more frequent tunings as the strings stretch and settle. Factors like climate, how often the piano is played, and the overall condition of the instrument can influence how often tuning is needed. All of our pianos are tuned to stable concert pitch (A=440hz) before delivery.
Although digital pianos are often believed to offer some advantages in terms of initial affordability and portability, they are a always a substitute for the real thing and even the most expenisve ones can never fully replicate the intricacies of an acoustic piano. For anyone learning to play the piano, acoustic pianos are generally considered better for developing a natural feel and touch, and for developing a more complete understanding of the instrument's mechanics. Acoustic pianos offer a richer and more complex sound than digital pianos, along with a much wider dynamic and tonal range. Even quite small and inexpensive used modern pianos offer the player so much more in return than a dry and soul-less digital piano. Most piano teachers will recommend a good used small upright for beginners, rather than digital pianos or keyboards.
All of our pianos come with a stool, minimum 2 years' warranty (on all internal parts and labour) and ground floor delivery within 100 miles of Norwich (150 miles for grand pianos). As standard we do not include tuning after delivery. All pianos are tuned before they leave the showroom and moving a piano will hardly affect the tuning. It is recommended to have your piano tuned a couple of months afetr delivery, once it has fully settled in to the new environment (temperature and humidity). We are happy to recommend piano tuners to our customers.
We allow customers to return pianos within 14 days of receipt if they are not satisfied, provided the pianos are in 'as sold' condition. We work with customers to resolve any issues, including exchanges or refunds, subject to certain conditions regarding delivery and damage. Customers are liable for delivery and return transport costs for any returns. In the past 7 years we have had only 2 returns out of many hundreds of pianos sold!
We offer free ground floor delivery within 100 miles of Norwich for all used pianos listed for sale. For deliveries beyond this range, we provide competitive rates across the UK. Our professional team ensures safe and secure delivery of your piano to your desired location.
We accept bank transfer, credit cards and PayPal for all transactions. We can also sometimes accept cash on delivery but it depends on the delivery location and it will have no bearing on the price! Our secure payment gateway ensures that your payment information is protected at all times.
Yes and no - we have limited space and manpower and we have to focus our capacity on refurbishing our own pianos to be at their very best, ready for sale. If you would like to have your piano refurbished please feel free to get in touch with details as we may be able to help, but there are probably other companies who are better set up to help you. If your piano is an older one - bear in mind that it is really only worth restoring / refurbishing if it is a top quality make such as Steinway, Bechstein, Bluthner and a handful of others (mainly German!).
Yes, we encourage customers to visit our showrooms in Norwich and Blofield to try out pianos in a relaxed setting. Viewings are typically arranged by appointment to ensure personalized service. For those unable to visit in person, we offer video demonstrations.
