This is a good quality small upright piano made c1970s by Challen, in England. Ideal for beginners to intermediate players or perhaps a more advanced player with limited space. This same model was used by the Beatles on many songs and still resides at Abbey Road studios - great for a woody, rich and vibey 'school piano' sound!

Tone and tuning

Very pleasant and well balanced tone - nice and rich in the bass for a small piano, a clear mid section and some pleasant brightness in the treble. 
 
 
Keyboard and action

The full size 88 note keyboard is in very good condition and the action plays smoothly across the whole keyboard with a responsive light to medium weight action. 


Hammers and strings
 
Only a little wear in the hammers, which are in very good condition and with plenty of life left before needing recovering. Strings are in very good condition also.


Sound board

Excellent condition spruce, no cracks or splits.


Case

In very good condition overall and well looked after with just a few small marks consistent with age.  This piano has an interesting lid system where the fall (key lid) folds up into the frame making it ideal for children learning to play as fingers can’t get  squashed! Matching stool included.
