This is a superb piano, built in Yamaha’s Hamamatsu factory in 1976, and now factory reconditioned in Japan (2025), that would suit a professional musician, serious amateur or perhaps a very lucky beginner! It has been completely reconditioned, tuned, regulated and voiced and is now ready for it’s next home. The Yamaha U1 and U3 are the benchmark modern upright pianos and much sought after for their smooth and responsive action and big and bright sound - the U1 is a great piano but the U3 being 10cm taller has an even deeper tone, most noticeable in the bass section which is far superior to many small grand pianos!
 
 
Tone and tuning 
 
Stunning bold, rich and full tone throughout the registers and a large dynamic range. Tuned to concert pitch prior to sale (A=440). Includes 3rd pedal for very quiet practice.
 
 
Keyboard and action 
 
The keyboard is in perfect condition, with new key tops and key bushings. The action has been completely overhauled, with new check tapes, loop chords and felts. It has then been regulated so plays perfectly smoothly across the whole keyboard with a medium weight. Yamaha's piano actions and famous for being very expressive and responsive, with a fast key repetition, and they are equally good for developing or advanced level players. 
 
 
Hammers and strings 
 
The hammers have been refaced and carefully voiced. Strings in excellent condition also.
 
 
Soundboard
 
Excellent condition, spruce soundboard. 
 
 
Case 
 
Completely refurbished and in as new condition - simply a stunning looking instrument. A new, matching height adjustable stool is included in the sale.
